- Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard beat the Rock N Roll Express for there first NWA World tag titles
- Wrestling Superstar Scott Irwin dies
- NWA Great American Bash has one of wrestlings most talked about matches War Games which pitted the Superpowers Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff, Paul Ellering and the Road Warriors against the Four Horsemen in the deadly two ring steel cage match. The Superpowers were victorious in this match.
- Big Bossman beat One Man Gang for the UWF World title
- Hart Foundation beat the British Bulldogs for there first WWF World tag titles
- Curt Hennig upset Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA World title
